Saratoga Springs, NY-- On July 23rd, CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services was pleased to hold an exciting fundraising event at the National Musuem of Racing and Hall of Fame. This event comes at a time when CAPTAIN services are in high demand due to the difficult economic climate, and much-needed funds are more difficult to come by from State and Federal agencies. CAPTAIN is proud to announce that several Thoroughbred racing celebrities agreed to join the festivities, all in the name of raising money for this local family service agency.
Celebrities who attended the event include Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas, trainer Gary Contessa, jockey Fili Leon, and trainer H. James Bond. D. Wayne Lukas, along with Kate Veitch, of Saratoga Springs, graciously agreed to collaborate and act as Honorary Co-Chairs for the event. CAPTAIN was proud to welcome over 200 individuals and supporters from the local community and many people from around the country in town for Saratoga horse racing season.
CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services is a small social service agency located in Clifton Park. CAPTAIN operates a runaway and homeless youth shelter, street outreach services, Teen Talk Helpline, emergency food pantry, family assistance program, and various youth leadership programs. This year, CAPTAIN is particularly challenged due to the increasing number of people who find they need CAPTAIN services. CAPTAIN greatly depends on the generosity of the community to help continue their work, and hope that those supporters unable to attend "An Unbridled Affair" will consider making a contribution to CAPTAIN or one of their programs.
